Tornados In A Snow Storm?

This Colorado weather is just insane lately!!! Tornados and snow? Were does that happen???

10:30 a.m.

12:30 p.m.

Oh. The tornado just happened in my house? Sorry for blaming you Colorado... it was just my crazy kids.

Rise and Shine!

Why can't I be a morning person? My children are morning people. They wake up and come to my room at 6:30 every single morning to prove it to me. Hmmm? Maybe I'm not one because I am a genius who stays up until 2 in the morning doing absolutely nothing!!! And why? Why!?! Is everything (and everyone) so loud in the mornings? Especially the girl. She hits notes that I didn't know the human ear could hear. The other day they came into my bed and Harlow started to yell for some unknown reason. I asked her not to yell and DJ said "Mom, that is NOT yelling. She is SCREAMING!" Thanks, kid, glad we are on the same page here.

This WWE style wakeup from a few weeks ago was one for the books

This morning, DJ and Harlow got into a fight over something all kids get into fights over. The Avant cd  cover book thing. Harlow took it from my mom's car this weekend and has been wanting me to read it to her everyday since. Not positive, but I don't think the lyrics "I know you wanna rub. I know you wanna touch. I know you wanna feel. So baby keep it real, I know you wanna see. I know you wanna be in my B E D, grinding slowly" are the best thing to read to her. So thanks for this, Mom! :-)

But for the most part, they all loved each other this morning!

And Dash go stuck. Say whatever you want, but i had to take a picture before I set him free. He was laughing, so you can't judge me too hard!

Lions, Tigers, and Bears... Oh My!

Kids are the best. They really do say and come up with the funniest things. Sometimes, you feel bad laughing at them, but really, it is impossible not too!

Yesterday Harlow comes up to me in tears and was just panicked. I asked her what was wrong and she said "I am going to be a lion!" What? That's not what she said, so asked her again... same answer. So I ask her one more time... this time, she is still hysterical and she says "My ouchy said I'm gonna be a lion!" and she started moving her hands like they were paws. Ok. What entire the entire world? I ask her why her ouchy said she is going to be a lion and she said "Look!!! It is turning brown!!!!!" Because her little scrape was scabbing, she thought she was turning into a lion! Now, I feel bad, but I laughed so hard. I comforted her... but I laughed. Poor thing.

Crazy coincidence, I might also be turning into a lion. Today is day of 1 of no carbs. My kids better be on their best behavior because I will be having bread withdrawals.

In much more serious news, I am praying for Boston. My heart is just absolutely broken for everyone.

Go DJ... That's My DJ!

My little man is 5!!!! How in the world did that happen? I know people always tell you how fast it goes, but man! It goes soooo fast!

This is the first year that DJ wanted to invite his class to his birthday party. I decided there was no way I was having 25 kids (not including my 3 crazies) in our house. Not a chance! So we chose our favorite birthday place... Monkey Bizness! He wanted a Ninjago theme.

First of all, if you have never seen Ninjago, you are a very lucky person. His friends at school loved it, so DJ decided he loved it before he ever saw it. We went on a long road trip and let DJ and Harlow each pick out a movie for the ride. DJ chose Ninjago Season something. I thought it would be what? 2 hours max? Wrong. It came with 2 discs, each one being over 4 hours. Talking Ninja Legos. Longest. Trip. EVER!!!!

His amazing Ninjago cake! Thanks Tina!!

The gift bags. Each bag had legos, skittles, starbursts, and of course some green necklaces since his birthday is on St. Patty's Day :)

Second, the best part of having a party at Monkey Bizness is you don't need to decorate. The kids run and jump for an hour and a half, eat pizza and cake, then you get to go home. No preparation, no clean up, why do I not always do this? Oh yeah, because I don't like easy apparently.

So the day before DJ's party I didn't know what to do with myself. I am used to being in a panic right before parties! Baking, crafting, cleaning and basically just running around like a crazy person. So I decided that he needed a special breakfast and something fun to do in the morning. Breakfast was easy, a donut "cake", heart shaped bacon (aka Pinterest fail), fruit salad with his favorite fruits, chocolate milk, and OJ. Simple and delicious. Now... something that I have not admitted. I hope Derrick isn't reading this!! I went to Target the day before and I bought a new serving bowl, platter, and 2 new pitchers for the drinks. Then I ran inside and put the stuff away so Derrick wouldn't know that I bought it. I have a problem. I know. I should be ashamed.  DJ loved his breakfast, but shockingly didn't comment on how nice the fruit salad looked in the bowl.

 It looked so easy here!!!

To give me something to do the day before, I decided that I would make DJ a scavenger hunt to find his presents! Now, I am not a poet, so the hardest part of this was thinking of clues that rhymed and he could figure out. After I figured them out, I typed them out, printed them, and then glued them to scrapbook paper I had in the house. All I bought was a few stickers, a hot wheels car to leave at each clue, and a bucket to put everything in as he went along. It costs about $10 and he LOVED it! The final clue led him to the pantry where he found all of his presents. He had so much fun that this might be a new tradition in the Martin house.

Now... I already warned you that I wasn't a poet! What did you expect?

The clues were nice and big, so he never had any problem finding them. He loved getting a car at each stop. He was just as excited finding these as he was finding all of his gifts :)

DJ had a great day and literally partied from the time he woke up until he went to bed! He loves being 5!

Back To Square One.

Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.
-Oprah

So it has been a while since I last checked in, but I am finally ready to start up again. I have missed this place!

So I will address the big elephant in the room. I am not sure when my last blog even was, but after that we had an awful event happen. I am not comfortable talking about it. I don't like remembering the details. It has taken a long time for me to even feel comfortable enough to let people into my life, which is something that this blog does. But I can't let it hold me back. I can't let it prevent me from doing something that I really enjoy doing. So here I am, back and searching even harder to find myself. I thought it was a bumpy ride before... Well shit. I had no freaking idea.
